My main library of photos will always be in Lightroom but having everything geotagged across platforms and apps makes it easier to locate images and places Before that used to use a GPS track app to geo track my DNG files in Lightroom but really is much better to geo tag in the camera when travelling so that I can move some of my favourite photos to my phone to share on social media but more so that they stay in my phone/in the cloud with geotagging attached so that I can easily find photos later (months and years later) on my iPhone/iPad/MacBook simply by location. It's 2021 and GPS missing from new cameras is disappointing.

It's been 18 mths since I'd used IO.Track (not much travel with COVID) so I'd found it a bit confusing.īy far my main camera is a Pentax K-1 ii full frame with GPS built in which is perfect. Processes have changed a couple of times. You probably remember the time when Olympus has track logging built into OI.Share then separated into two apps. I simply had the process wrong (swipe left on the track log "Add Gotag") - when I gone into the track log in OI.Track while linked to the camera I was thrown off by the message "No images taken during the recorded track log" (which IMO is a pointless message as it confuses rather than helps) I usually skip that part because I'm going to transfer those photos with the GPS data in them to my computer, anyway. After it's done it then asks if you want to import photos into your device.

One of the buttons should be green and labeled "Add."Ĭlick that and the OI.Track software should start imprinting your photos with the geotag data it captured. Once you connect the camera to the app, go into OI.Share and swipe (or slide) left on a log entry you want to add to the camera. In my mind, they made it a little less intuitive. T some point Olympus changed the way OI.Track transfers GPS data to in-camera images. They buried the process for adding tracks to photos in camera. Then you used that photo to set up the offset and data for matching your GPX logs to the camera files. It required that you take a photo of your GPS screen after it got a lock, before you started taking photos. Yeah, I used to use a third-party program on my computer called PhotoGPSEditor. But the few times I've used OI.Track, it has worked well. I use a GPX log to tag images regardless of the camera used. Those files will have the GPS EXIF tags added and will show the GPS icon in the playback display.Īs I shoot with multiple brands of cameras, I rarely use a camera app to geotag my shots. The camera will tag the images taken during the logging interval. Reconnect to camera and use app to upload the log to the camera.

The import in OI.Share can see and import the photos (with no geo tag) but the OI.Track app can only see photos already imported to my iPhone.ĭid you use the OI.Track app to first set date and time on camera? This is a requirement. I've checked to make sure that the camera's date/time setting is correct and the time of the OI.Track log covers the time period the photos were taken. I've found that when I go to geo tag the photos taken during geo log that the app is giving me a message "No images taken during the recorded track log"
